Volunteers The Amish Museum is a non-profit organization who depends on others to accomplish its mission. The Museum is asking for your help to become a part of this wonderful museum by lending a helping hand. We need help with basic tasks, such as cleaning the museum and helping customers in the gift shop as well as with office tasks, such as filing and clipping articles.
Of the tasks that need to be undertaken, many are educational in nature. Students are encouraged to volunteer for projects relating to history, humanities, and journalism. We will work with your teachers to try to give extra credit or exam exemption for your time spent here.
If you or someone you know is seeking such an opportunity, please contact us at 1-888-45-AMISH. Any time that you are able to contribute is greatly appreciated.
Donate The Amish Museum is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide education to the general public about the Amish religion and way of life in Illinois through interactive experiences within the museum and on Amish homesteads. The Museum also strives to provide exhibits and symposiums focusing on Anabaptist history and preserve artifacts from the community for the local Amish to access and appreciate. Right now our operating budget is near $150,000. From that budget we need to raise $25,000 to keep the doors open. Donations are always appreciated and do not have to be in monetary form. We are able to allocate monetary donations to specific causes. If you would like a list of specific expenses, please email us at theresa@rockome.com.
All donations will receive a receipt for tax purposes. If you would like for your donation to go toward the total expense of any item, we would be more than happy to allocate your donation in that way. Please send donations to: Amish Museum, 125 N CR 425E, Arcola, IL 61910-3756.
Sponsorships In today’s world of inundating messages from the television, radio, internet, billboards, signs, phone calls, and emails, it is more and more difficult to get your message across. The Amish Museum feels that our visitors are a unique demographic that companies can and need to reach through non-traditional means. There are many opportunities to reach our visitors, numbering over 18,000 last year.
Let’s take for example a fictitious company called Quilt Binding, Etc. that sells quilting products looking to reach their customers in a new way. Through sponsorship, the Amish Museum quilt exhibit could be improved by adding the message, “Text Revision for this exhibit sponsored by Quilt Binding, Etc.” or “This Exhibit is Sponsored by Quilt Binding, Etc.”
Below is a list of ways in which your company can help further the mission of the Interpretive Center while helping you to get the branding or advertising your company needs.
Exhibits: Quilts Buggies Barns Clothing Weddings Beds Furniture Farming
Other Opportunities: Donor Plaques Text Revision Interactive Exhibits Oral History Projects
If you are interested in sponsoring any of our exhibits or projects, please call 1-888-45-AMISH and ask for Theresa Binion.
Become a Member The Amish Museum experiences the company of thousands of people each year who come to the Museum seeking information about our rural neighbors. Our visitors are able to learn the truth and history about our Amish community because of the accessibility of the museum as an educational resource.
No small museum can solely operate on admission fees. This is why we are asking for your help. Right now our operating budget is near $150,000. From that budget we need to raise $25,000 from our members to keep the doors open. We, at the center, strive to be good stewards of the funds entrusted to the Amish Museum. While we understand that many of you are unable to contribute your time to the Center, you may be able to contribute financially.
We are greatly appreciative of any amount you are able to give to the Museum so that we may continue to offer engaging exhibits and endless possibilities relating to furthering your understanding of the Old Order Amish community in central Illinois.
